Four runners from the Forney Independent School District competed in the UIL District 4A Cross Country State Championships at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, on November 9, 2013.
North Forney High School junior runner Kyle Garcia finished in 7th place overall in the 4A boy's competition with a time of 16:03.87 and a pace of 5:09 a mile. Forney High School sophomore runner Caylan McMillian finished in 10th place in the girl's competition with a time of 18:53.84 and a mile pace at 6:03. Garcia and McMillan were each named to the All-State Team.
Two other top finishers were North Forney's Yekeshia Royal and Forney's Kiana Hawn. Royal finished 20th in the girl's competition with a time of 19:26.55 and a pace of 6:14 a mile. Hawn finished in 24th place in the girl's competition with a time of 19:37 and a pace of 6:17 a mile.
In total, 112 girls and 114 boys competed in the District 4A Cross Country State Championships.
