Christmas on Main, formerly known as Forney Home Town Christmas, has announced a first-ever lighted Christmas parade for this year's downtown event on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Christmas on Main will be from 12:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and will begin with a welcoming ceremony. The “Parade of Lights” starts at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the Forney Independent School District's Administration Building on Bois D'Arc Street and will travel down Bois D'Arc to downtown Forney where it will end.
Christmas on Main will have activities for the whole family with free Christmas crafts and rides, letters to Santa and troops, and pictures with Santa. “The current format for Forney's Christmas celebration began in 2004, with several community groups coming together to pull off a great event. It is exciting to see that happening again. I'm proud of those who have stepped up and those who will join them. I am looking forward to Christmas on Main in Forney,” said Forney Mayor Darren Rozell.
There will only be 20 floats approved for the parade so if you are interested, you should contact Forney Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Alexa Tiesman immediately at (972) 564-7329 or atiesman@cityofforney.org.
Immediately following the parade, Christmas on Main will hold the annual tree lighting ceremony at the intersection of Main Street and Elm Street.
