Forney, Texas – A suspect is in custody following a brief manhunt by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and the Forney Police Department near Helms Trail and U.S. Highway 80 in Kaufman County.

24-year-old Terrence Johnson Jr. of Dallas was booked into the Kaufman County Jail with charges from Texas DPS for evading arrest and possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia. According to Texas DPS spokesperson Trooper Kyle Bradford, Johnson was wanted on several traffic warrants when he bailed from his vehicle while it was still in drive and hid in a culvert where he was later found.
Authorities searched the area south of U.S. Highway 80 and west of Helms Trail where they found Johnson hiding in the culvert. Johnson was apprehended at approximately 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
Johnson also has a pending felony charge of continuous violence against family in Dallas County, four holds for Rockwall County Sheriff's Office, and six holds for the City of Rockwall Police Department. Bond amounts have not yet been set.
