Forney, Texas – The Forney Independent School District will host two community forums to discuss the future of education in the district and also take a moment to discuss the current financial state of the district.

The Forney ISD Forward Focus Forums will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Forney High School cafeteria and on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the North Forney High School cafeteria from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The last time the district held public forums was in 2011 and the district was addressing serious budget shortfalls and a repayment to the Texas Education Agency for $13.6 million. The meeting lasted approximately three hours and was filled with angry parents wanting answers.
Three years later, the district hopes to use the forums as a way to “celebrate the good news regarding the state of our district,” states a release from the Forney ISD. Although the attendance numbers at the upcoming forums will not likely match the numbers of the last forum, district officials are enthusiastic about what the future holds for Forney ISD.
“Forney ISD is dedicated to ensuring that all students are prepared to succeed as they move on to college, technical schools, and into the workforce,” states the release. “The district believes it is imperative to engage all stakeholders in important discussions involving the future of the district and of education.”
