Terrell, Texas – 40-year-old Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighter William “Scott” Tanksley, of Kemp, will be laid in his final resting place tomorrow in the Field of Honor at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
Officials are expecting hundreds of firefighters from all over Texas and the country to attend Tanksley's funeral services on Monday morning, February 17, 2014, at Terrell ISD's Performing Arts Center which begin at 10 a.m. Tanksley was killed in the line of duty on February 10, 2014, while working an accident on top of an icy Spur 408 bridge when he was struck and pushed over the edge of the bridge.
“Traffic flow will be significantly delayed on Monday between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in northwest Terrell area with impacts to [Farm-to-Market] 986, Griffith [Avenue], and SH 205.”Terrell Police Department Chief Jody Lay said on Twitter. Town North Drive will be closed tomorrow morning beginning at 7 a.m. for thru traffic between Poetry Road and Westgate Drive.
After Tanksley's funeral services, the procession will head south on Poetry Road/FM 986 and then east on West State Street. The procession will then turn right on 9th Street and right again on Griffith Avenue to State Highway (SH) 205 where it will head to Interstate Highway (IH) 30 in Rockwall, Texas (see map below). From Rockwall, the procession will head to Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
The Terrell ISD Performing Arts Center was also the site of funeral services for Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse last year after he was killed on January 31, 2013.
