Volunteers with Forney 360's Impact Change project will return to Prairie View Cemetery on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 8 a.m. until noon to continue clearing heavy brush, mowing, weed eating, and cleaning around headstones.
Volunteer options are still available and registration is open online at impactchange.net.
Last November, the group had more than 300 volunteers begin the restoration of the cemetery by clearing a couple acres of heavy brush, and also mowed, cleaned and replaced headstones, and painted the cemetery's fence. The group also hopes to repave the rock road within the cemetery - if you can help with acquiring the rock, email Kenneth.pearce@forneyisd.net.
Impact Change was created as a student involvement program at Warren Middle School in 2011 to combat bullying and to promote kindness through an evolved “culture of kindness,” according to Warren Middle School Principal Kenneth Pearce. The group wants to use positive peer pressure to change student attitudes.
Impact Change will also hold their 2nd Annual Join the Revolution 5K and one mile fun run event on April 12, 2014, at 8 a.m. at the Forney Community Park. For registration and event details visit their website.
