An underage purchaser attempted to purchase tobacco products at the 15 retailers as part of the operation. According to the Forney Police Department, none of the 15 retailers sold tobacco or tobacco products to the undercover purchaser.
“We would like to say thank you to our retailers for carding our minors and helping to keep them tobacco free,” read a statement from the Forney Police Department.
“The Tobacco Enforcement Program (TEP) was created in 2012 by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and funding was provided to the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) at Texas State University,” according to the Texas School Safety Center's website. “TxSSC funds local law enforcement agencies across the state of Texas to help enforce Texas laws regarding youth access to tobacco products.”
