UPDATED: Terrell ISD's Long Elementary School lockdown lifted

The district continues, “All students are safe and inside the school at this time. Terrell PD and Terrell ISD PD are actively handling the situation.” The alert was issued at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, due to a suicidal subject in a standoff with police nearby. The lockdown was lifted just after 4 p.m.

Cars are being diverted from the area and buses will be delayed, according to Terrell ISD. According to Terrell ISD's Public Information Officer Rachel Frost, the police incident is not related to a student or school incident.

The Terrell Police Department took the subject in custody shortly after 4 p.m. and authorities lifted the neighborhood lockdown. Officers stayed in the area for traffic control following the incident.

Earlier this morning, Kaufman ISD placed all its campuses on “soft” lockdown due to a false report of an attempted child abduction. After an extensive police search which included a DPS helicopter, the lockdown was lifted.

We'll have more on this story as information becomes available.
