FORNEY, Texas – The City of Forney will remain in a modified stage 3 watering restrictions until June 1, 2014, according to Public Works Director Chris Metz. The restrictions limit landscape watering to once every two weeks with sprinklers or irrigation systems.

Currently, the North Texas Municipal Water District's (NTMWD) primary water supply, Lake Lavon, is 12.32 feet below conservation pool level. Jim Chapman Lake is 12.58 feet low, Lake Tawakoni is 9.75 feet low, and Lake Texoma is 8.56 feet low.
The NTMWD's new $306 million pipeline from Lake Texoma to Wylie, Texas, is expected to come online in May of 2014 for Water Treatment Plants III and IV. Water Treatment Plants I and II are expected to be online in June. However, according to district officials, the restoring of the Lake Texoma water supply, since the invasion of zebra mussels, will not alter the stage 3 restrictions because of current drought conditions affecting area lakes.
The NTMWD Board of Directors will consider extensions to the water restrictions each month after evaluating drought conditions and lake levels.
