FORNEY, Texas – At a special meeting on Thursday night, May 15, 2014, the Forney Independent School District's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to begin their search internally to replace Superintendent Holland's vacancy.

The board also approved Superintendent Holland's resignation which will take effect on July 31, 2014. Holland was named as the lone finalist for the Executive Director role at the Region VI Education Service Center in Huntsville, Texas.
After about an hour in executive session, Trustee Becky Dobbs made the motion to interview internal candidates stating, “I make a motion the board interview internal applicants for the superintendent's vacancy.” Trustee Kathy Hall seconded the motion and all board members approved.
According to a preliminary timeline presented by Forney ISD Board President Keith Bell, the board expects to begin interviews during executive session at their regularly scheduled meeting on June 2, 2014. The board then could possibly name a lone finalist at a special called meeting on June 9, 2014. Then, at another special called meeting on June 24, 2014, the board could approve the new superintendent's contract.
