FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District has named Rockwall ISD's Maurine Cain Middle School Principal Dr. Jason Johnston as the new principal for North Forney High School beginning with the 2014-15 school year.

Johnston is replacing outgoing Principal Dr. Joe Kucera who accepted an assistant superintendent position at the China Spring Independent School District in China Spring, Texas, which is northwest of Waco, Texas. Since North Forney High School opened in 2009, Kucera has been the only individual to serve as its principal.
Johnston has served as the principal at Maurine Cain Middle School since 2009. On May 3, 2014, Johnston was named the statewide H-E-B Excellence in Education Secondary School Principal of the year. He received a $10,000 reward and a $25,000 grant for Cain Middle School.
“Dr. Johnston began his career in education in 2001 as a business teacher and coach at Rowlett High School in the Garland Independent School District. In 2006 he was named the Assistant Principal at Cecil Webb Middle School in Garland ISD before being named the principal at Maurine Cain Middle School,” according to Forney ISD Director of Communications Larry Coker.
“Dr. Johnston received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas in 1998 and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Commerce in Commerce, Texas in 2008. He also earned his Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration in 2013 from Texas A&M Commerce,” stated Coker.
