FORNEY, Texas – Cadets in Forney ISD's Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program placed American flags on the graves of fallen United States armed forces service members to honor them on Memorial Day.

The cadets placed the flags on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Prairie View Cemetery and Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney, Texas. Another group of the Forney cadets placed flags at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery near Mountain Creek Lake in Dallas, Texas.
Forney City Council member Ray Stephens, a retired Marine, assisted Forney ISD AFJROTC Lt. Colonel Phelecia Geary place the flags with the cadets. “Something should be said about these cadets, they are the same ones who consistently recognize the military veterans throughout our community,” said Stephens.
The Forney ISD TX-20081 Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps contains students from both Forney High School and North Forney High School.
The cadets also spent the past couple of months fundraising to purchase the flags for the fallen veterans' graves at Prairie View Cemetery and Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney and the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
