KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced today the approval of five contract awards for projects in the Dallas District, which includes Kaufman County, for rehabilitation on Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 and work on State Highway (SH) 34.

The $10.8 million rehabilitation project on FM 148 will span 7.4 miles from U.S. Highway 175 south to FM 1390. This stretch of roadway is one of the main thoroughfares for Crandall, Texas, area drivers. The project was awarded to Austin Bridge and Road, LP.
A portion of SH 34 in Kaufman County is included in a project to install pavement markers on various highways in Rockwall and Collin counties. The contract was awarded to Total Highway Maintenance, LLC, with a total project cost of $838,275.06.
The construction start dates will be determined in upcoming meetings with TxDOT and the contractors on each project, according to a release from TxDOT.
“Like all of Texas, the urban areas of our state will continue to see rapid population growth,” stated Commissioner Victor Vandergriff in a release. “Relieving congestion on our roadways not only improves our quality of life, but also enhances economic opportunities. We are pleased to partner with state and local entities who share our vision of keeping Texas moving.”
Other contracts included a $364,833.69 contract awarded to Florida Traffic Control Devices for the installation of fiber optic cable on I-35E between Empire Central and Loop 12 in Dallas, a $416,695 contract awarded to SCR Construction Co., Inc. for the installation of bridge protective devices at various locations in Dallas County, and a $2.6 million contract awarded to APAC-Texas, Inc. for full-depth repair, mill, and overlay on Loop 12 between Spur 408 and the West Fork of the Trinity River.
