At approximately 1:20 p.m., on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, emergency crews received the call regarding the accident in the 500 block of Wolf Drive in the Mustang Creek neighborhood.
The 86-year-old female driver first struck several mailboxes on the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding a fire hydrant, before she struck the SUV which was parked in a driveway. The force of the impact threw the SUV into the homeowner's lawn.
The driver then put her car into reverse, after striking the SUV, and drove in reverse several houses down the street before driving through the homeowner's garage where it all came to an end.
Jesus Elizondo, whose SUV was struck, told inForney.com, “This is the most excitement we've had,” since his family moved to Forney in 2003. The family wasn't home at the time of the accident.
“She t-boned my vehicle which was in my driveway, dragged it into my yard, backed up from my yard and into my neighbor's garage,” he said. The force of the vehicle not only threw Elizondo's SUV across the lawn but it also broke through the center column of the separated two-car garage of the home she later struck, said Elizondo.
Elizondo works for the United States Marine Corps recruiting office and the homeowner whose house was struck works for the Terrell Police Department.
The woman, who is a Forney resident, was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries. No other injuries were reported.
