During the May 28 Forney City Council meeting, Mayor Darren Rozell presented the Public Works department with a proclamation and City Manager Brian Brooks presented an award to the Finance Department.
In honor of National Public Works Week, Mayor Darren Rozell presented the Forney Public Works department a proclamation honoring their hard work and dedication. Rozell presented the proclamation to Public Works Directory Chris Metz and a handful of key staff members of the Public Works department.
Metz said, “We appreciate to the chance to serve this community, it's a fine community. We enjoy our job and we enjoy coming to work every single day, thank you very much.”
“I'm really glad we are able to do this proclamation and give those folks some recognition. They take care of a lot of things that happen in the city that a lot of folks don't give a lot of thought to. These guys do their best to respond to problems when they come up but also know that this department does a lot of work to be proactive and try to prevent a lot of problems and they serve this community well,” said Mayor Rozell after presenting the proclamation.
City Manager Brian Brooks then presented the Distinguished Budget Award to Charity VanKirk, from the City of Forney's Finance Department, and Human Resources Director Leigh Corson. The Distinguished Budget Award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association to communities that go through “very rigorous standards,” said Brooks.
The city's budget was submitted to the association to be graded by three different reviewers based on 27 different criteria. “I really do want to thank you very much for all the hard work that y'all put it and congratulate you for this certificate of recognition for budget preparation,” concluded Brooks.
